Can you discredit "wait on jehovah to fix all evil" elder's padded line even told to victims of pedophiles?
by PokerPlayerPhil ini am sick of being told this same crap after decades of suffering at the hands of wicked men and women, how many of you have had to fight these irrational expectations we are supposed to grin and smile when people are actively trying to screw with us and elders say .
good it is that one should wait, even silently, for the salvation of jehovah (lamentations 3:26; titus 2:13).
my life in the organization has not been entirely bad, there were many good people and plenty of jerks like you all experienced in this adventure we call life.

I would turn the tables on them by telling them that "Jehovah is waiting for you to take action". -

Could you help me with a little Witness history ?
by ukgirl inas part of a student film project that i am completing i will be conducting a telephone interview with an exjw tomorrow.. the person i am interviewing was a witness between the years of the 50's (born in) - late 80's so obviously would have been in their late teens for the prophecies and events of 1975.. as this person is older than i, i am plan to tailor my questions around being a witness in that time period.
i just wonder if you could point me in the direction of any more date specific events surrounding this time period that i could touch upon in my interview ?.
much appreciated .

I remember, around 1974, going to a talk by then Vice President Frederick Franz at the Inglewood Public Forum in Southern California. The stadium was jam packed all the way to the floor (seating capacity 17500). He set out his long winded calculations of 1975 then came out with the conclusion that the world would end by 1975 or a few months or years thereafter.
I also remember being in the ministry school meeting one night in 1974 when the Kingdom Ministry was being read. It stated that there were reports of brothers selling their homes in order to spend the short remaining time in the witnessing work and that that was a good thing.

Rainham residents upset about plans for Jah Jireh care home for Jehovah’s Witnesses
by Simon in(posted for andersonsinfo).
people are protesting against plans to build a large care home for jehovahs witnesses behind their houses.. homeowners living in the bloors lane area of rainham have lodged objections to proposals by the jah jireh charity, which specialises in spiritual and physical care for followers of the religion.. people living in neighbouring homes say it is too big and its three storeys will dwarf their properties.. .
what the care home will look like.

It all depends on how much land is taken up by the nursing home. If it fills up the property with very little green space behind and besides the building then there's an issue. A smaller building might be an acceptable compromise though it may not be cost effective for the property owners. -

I once brought an American Standard Version that was printed by the Watchtower to the meeting. It was bound in the exact same way as the NWT but in brown instead of green. The brother sitting besides me noticed it and he opened it to John !:1 to show that it wasn't a worthy translation.
Strange how the Watchtower even printed the King James Version, also looking like the NWT but with a dark red (?) cover.

They obviously have a severe shortage of brothers to be that desperate.
It should be acknowledged though that the apostle Paul stated that women should wear veils on their heads during the meetings (! Corinthians 11:3-6) and not speak at all (1Corinthians 14:34-36). That's more severe than what the Witnesses are doing and it makes them look liberal in their application of those scriptures.

Those darned apostates
by berrygerry injuly 15, 1992 wt.
"apostates capitalize on errors or seeming mistakes made by brothers who take the lead.
our safety lies in avoiding apostate propaganda as though it were poison, which in fact it is.".

Their old literature is poison to them and they avoid it every bit as much as they avoid "apostates."

I remember that it was mentioned in a 1974 or 1975 year book which related the experience of a JW in Nazi Germany. The JW had the Nazi police or Gestapo ask her if she was a Jehovah's Witness and her answer was "I am a Christian". That was referred to in the yearbook as "Theocratic tact".
